1979 film ii rocky After Rocky was such a huge success in 1976 you know MGM and UA would want to make a sequel to make more money. But guess what? This doesn't feel like a sequel made for money, it feels like a sequel made with heart by star, writer and director Sylvester Stallone.Basically Rocky II repeats the successful formula of the first one but changes things around. There are two really well done montages of Rocky training and of course the famous run up the stairs. Stallone directs with passion and intensity and although some of the angles he uses are taken from the original film, there's just something about it that makes it so good.
